How to measure a room for a new carpet

To accurately measure for new carpet, first, sketch a simple plan of the room, noting any alcoves, doorways, or bay windows.

Then, measure the longest and widest points of the room, including these tricky areas.

Add at least 10cm (4 inches) to both the length and width measurements to account for waste, seams, and fitting.

Finally, to determine the best roll width for your room and calculate the total square footage needed, contact us and we can advise you.

Door Bars

Carpet to Carpet Bars: These are designed to join two carpeted areas at a doorway, keeping the carpet edges secure and preventing fraying. They can be metal or plastic.

Carpet to Hard Floor Bars: Used to join carpet to a hard surface like vinyl, tile, wood, or laminate. These also help to prevent fraying and offer a clean finish. They are commonly metal or durable plastic.

Hard Floor to Hard Floor Bars (Flat Threshold Bars): These join hard flooring surfaces of the same height (e.g., wood to wood, tile to tile, wood to tile). They provide a smooth, low-profile finish. Materials include metal, wood, or PVC.

Transition Bars: These bridge the gap between two different flooring materials, such as tile and hardwood or carpet and laminate, creating a smooth transition and protecting the edges.

Ramp Door Bars: Also known as 'R section', these are necessary when floors have different heights, creating a gradual incline to eliminate tripping hazards. They can be made of rubber, wood or metal.

T-bars: T-shaped door bars are ideal for leveling the gap between two uneven floor types. They can be used for laminate-to-laminate or wood flooring.

Z-section Bars: These provide a neat transition between laminate/hard flooring and an adjacent stretch carpet installation, offering a seamless finish without visible fixings. They are also suitable for joining laminate flooring to carpet, tiles or wood
